Herne Hill Harriers were in action over the Jubilee weekend with their girls team making a good start by finishing second in the first Lily B league match of the summer at Guildford on Saturday.
The girls did very well in the Under 13 girls agegroup where winners included Denisha Marshall-Brown who won the 100m and shot, Bintu Freeman in the 100m B string race and long jump, Eloise O’Shaunessey & Bozena Fanner- in the 800ms and Saskia Millard who was just outside the club 1500m record with a time of 5.03.9 whilst in the Under 15 girls Catriona McSorley set PBs of 12.6 in the 75m hurdles and 4.63m in the long jump. Francesca Reid-Lloyd set a new PB with 5.09.1 when second in the 1500m and Anna Broughton won the 75m hurdles B string. In the under 17 women Elena Rodham Cooke won the high jump with 1.50m and Kyanne Cornwall the long jump with 4.63m.
On Bank Holiday Monday Herne Hill Harriers hosted another popular track and field open meeting which attracted nearly 300 athletes at Tooting Bec Track. These also included their club championships with championship best performances being set by Lascelles Hussey in the Under 17 boys 3000m in a time of 9.20.65 and Denisha Marshall-Brown in the under 13 girls shot with 9.26m.
