Role: Website communications

Athletic interests: I have been involved and interested in athletics since my youth, mainly in middle and long distance and cross country. My abilities have always been moderate, but that does not prevent me from enjoying the camaraderie and trying to do my best. I have been a member of Herne Hill Harriers since around 2010, and joining the club has enhanced my running abilities compared with training alone. Name: Ian Jack

Role: Safeguarding

Athletic interests: My son and daughter both joined the HHH youth team in late 2017, so under peer pressure I followed them into the Club in 2018. I’ve been running marathons since 2012 but had not been a member of a running club before (incidentally I’ve taken 17 minutes off my marathon time since joining HHH and would recommend it to anyone). I also like ultra distances and am currently ranked 12th in Britain for the ’24 hour running’ discipline (there are 2 races a year around a 400m track, it’s niche). I am often marshalling or tail-running with the youth middle distance group on Streatham Common (during x-country season) or at Tooting track on Tuesday evenings.

Cindy Godwin

Role: Vice-President, founding member of D&I working group, former Membership coordinator

Athletic interests: I played team sports as a youth in the US, jogged for fitness, and dabbled in track at the longest distance available: the mile. I became involved with Herne Hill when I realised that long-distance running was what I loved. For a decade I benefitted from the fantastic coaching offered by the club, training regularly and learning how to compete in track, road, and cross-country. I have paused my marathon running and am now volunteering for club events and our local Tooting Common parkrun, as well as supporting HHH’s commitment to diversity & inclusion. Through our work within the club and with England Athletics, we are contributing to an inclusive club network that reflects the diversity of our communities and inspires the next generation.
