Idris Ojuriye

We are saddened and shocked to advise that Idris Ojuriye, a very popular and talented sprinter in our Herne Hill Harriers teams sadly passed away suddenly on Monday 4thJanuary after suffering a blood clot which led to a heart attack a week after his 36th birthday.

Idris was an invaluable member of our men’s British Athletics League national league team for over fifteen years competing over 100m and 200m and sprint relays and was a regular competitor in indoor and outdoor championships ranging from the Surrey county to National champs meetings.

His PBs were 6.81 for 60m, 10.61 for 100m and 21.42 for 200m  Idris was a very enthusiastic, inspiring competitor and team member who whilst easing back on competitions in the last two years continued to be heavily involved in coaching in schools and coaching at local South London tracks where he inspired many youngsters to start athletics.

Our hearts go out to his family, his partner and friends, he will be greatly and sadly missed by everyone.
