I am delighted to be taking over from Waldy Pauzers as President of our great Club in this our 130th year.
I am extremely honoured and look forward to working with our members over the next period to ensure the Club continues to go from strength to strength.
I have been involved in club athletics for more than 45 years, and find it as exciting now as I did when I first put my spikes on and started to compete. I now combine a role as a Coaching Assistant to Geoff Jerwood supporting our middle/long distance group with a continuing aspiration to compete, albeit at an increasingly slow pace!.
My background is in middle and long distance running but I take a keen interest in all areas of our sport. My two daughters, Ella and Lily are both active members of the Club and indeed featured in national medal winning cross country teams during the 2018/19 season. Lily has recently taken up the heptathlon and I am intrigued to see how things develop over the coming year under the expert guidance of Piotr Spas.
Through the voluntary efforts of our Club officials and coaches we are able to provide competition, coaching and support across the full range of events, and we are forever grateful to those who give up their time so freely to support our athletes. I have emailed all members and would encourage you to come forward, should you wish to get involved in supporting our ambition.
I am also keen to ensure that our mandate for the next year addresses where we can improve in supporting our athletes, hence your suggestions on this front are also welcomed.
I look forward to serving you.
