Congratulations to the Club’s three medalists from the British Championships who have all been selected for Great Britain at the 2026 European Championships held in Birmingham from 10th to 16th August.
It has been a whirlwind season for Arlo Ludewick, and this incredible trajectory has earnt him selection for the 1500m. Having won the British Championships, Arlo then bagged the qualifying time for Europeans with a huge 4 second PB as he ran 3:33.07 in Kortrijk, Belgium. He then produced an outstanding performance in the London Diamond League’s Emsley Carr Mile, which has rightly been described as ‘a race for the ages’. Arlo set two PBs in this race, 3:48.17 for the Mile and 3:32.92 for 1500m en route, both are HHH Club and Surrey County records.
For Katie Snowden, who is currently contesting her third Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, it will also be her third outdoor European Championships. Katie will compete at 1500m having done so already in Munich in 2022 and Rome in 2024. Katie, who placed 2nd in the British Championships, will be hoping to improve on her outstanding 4th place finish in Munich four years ago.
It is great to see Kristal Ama-Awuah return to the big stage following her selection for the 4 x 100m relay team. Kristal has been in excellent form, including finishing 3rd at the British Championships 200m in a PB of 22.99. She has since improved her 200m PB to 22.57, which was also a County record, and ran her second quickest ever 100m in 11.18.
Herne Hill Harriers is one of only a handful of clubs to have three or more athletes selected for Great Britain for these Championships. We send our very best wishes to all three of you in Birmingham.
