The Common Runner – Week 18, 2014

Some results from the Kinnaird & Sward Trophy meeting at Kingsmeadow…
Blade Ashby won the 400m hurdles in a huge PB of 52.67, which may even top the current UK rankings unless somebody else has run quicker over this weekend. It is of course very early season and the likes of Dai Greene have yet to spring into action.

Blade’s older brother Thomas also got a PB, jumping 2.01m in the High Jump, while also throwing the Discus 43m, a Shot seasons best of 13.82m, Long jumping 6.75m and clocking 15.50 in the 110m hurdles.

Peter Phillips ran what he described as a “relaxed 400m opener in 48.98.” Dwayne Dowding also apparently ran well over 100m and 200m, but I have yet to see the full results.

Elsewhere, racing for Harrow School, 16 year old Lascelles Hussey broke the two minute barrier for 800m for the first time and did so emphatically with a time of 1.58.2, down from a previous PB of 2.03. Lascelles then followed up with a 1500m run in 4.14.8, repeating his second placing in his earlier 800m.
