Last night (10th June) Katie Snowden won the BMC Best of British 1500m race at Stretford in Manchester with a massive PB of 4.18.71, breaking her own club women’s record by over 8 seconds. beating into 2nd place the in form CAU Inter Counties 1500m champion Rachael Bamford, who recently ran a Commonwealth Games qualifying time for 3000m steeplechase.
There have been two other recent club records that were hitherto unreported and both were set over the weekend of 31st May/1st June. In a meeting in Belgium on 31st May the BUCS women’s 400m hurdles champion Aisha Naibe-Wey broke the HHH women’s record for that event with a fabulous time of 58.56, only just losing her race in a photo finish and getting back into great form after a couple of difficult races after BUCS.
At the Surrey County Masters championship at Ewell on 1st June, gold medalist Penelope Cummings improved her own 3000m walk club record that she had set when winning the Surrey senior title a week earlier at Kingsmeadow. Her latest performance brings her best time down to 16.44.7.
