Herne Hill Harriers’ rising young middle distance star Katie Snowden has been selected to represent an England senior team at the Elan Indoor Meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia on Sunday 1st February. Although having been part of an England B team at 800m at the Loughborough International meeting outdoors last May, this indoor match will be Katie’s first full senior international vest for her country just over a month before her 21st birthday.
Katie has earned her place in the England team over 1500m – hitherto regarded as her secondary event as she has specialised at 800m – by placing a fine 3rd at the BMC Indoor Grand Prix meeting in Sheffield earlier this month. In that race Katie clocked a time of 4.22.15, an improvement of more than 7 seconds in comparison to her previous indoor PB and quite close to her outdoor best and HHH club women’s record of 4.18.71 set in June 2014. Congratulations to Katie in this next step forward in her development as a top level senior athlete following a few years of high achievement when she competed in the younger age groups. All from HHH wish Katie the very best in Bratislava and thereafter in 2015 onwards.
