Herne Hill’s Katie Snowden returned to racing after illness with a superb victory to claim the elite women’s cash prize at the SOAR mile track races at Battersea Park. Katie emphatically beat the race favourite, GB European champs steeplechase representative Rosie Clarke. In doing so the HHH club women’s one mile record was smashed with a new mark of 4.39.78, Katie’s strong final lap of sub 63 seconds ensuring she eclipsed Chloe Tighe’s recent record by around 7 seconds. This excellent performance augurs well for some fast times between now and the end of this year’s outdoor track season.
