Herne Hill Harriers were well represented and honoured at the Active Wandsworth Sports Awards held on 11th February at the Civic Suite Wandsworth taking home several awards
Amongst the individuals honoured included :
Eimear Griffin : won the award for the Outstanding Individual at the London Youth Games, (in which Wandsworth were the winning London borough for the third successive year). Eimear won silver medals in the cross country and 800m events. Also shortlisted in this section were Mohamed Mohamud and Oscar Millard
Ore Adamson : was third in the Junior Sports Person of the year having won the English Schools junior girls long jump title last summer in which Mohamed Mohamud was also shortlisted
James McDonald : was runner up in the Outstanding Contribution to Sport award. James began the running career of a HHH athlete who has since gone on to represent her country at senior level, James having coached her to a World Youth Championship final. James has coached many local athletes to achieve county, area and national honours during the past twelve years.
In the team awards the boys athletics team which featured Mohamed Mohamud, Oscar Millard and Mohammed Ali won the Team of the Year at the London Youth Games award, a notable award considering ten borough teams won their events
HHH girls road and cross country team was also nominated for Community Sports Team of the Year having won national cross country relays last November but weren’t successful this time in retaining the award they had won for the previous two years
