There was individual and team success for Herne Hill Harriers at the latest round of the Surrey League women’s cross-country league on Saturday.
The stand-out performance came from Harriers’ under-15 team, with four counters coming in the top-nine at a muddy Nonsuch Park, Sutton. Francesca Reid-Lloyd claimed 1st in 19.32, while Skye O’Shaughnessy, Alice Setyabule and Daisy Setyabule finished in 4th, 7th and 9th positions respectively.
Meanwhile, there was more success for Saskia Millard who won the under-13 race by 24 seconds in 11.49. Although Ella Newton finished in 9th, two top-10 performances were not enough to clinch the age category team prize in the face of stiff competition from athletes from Dorking and Mole Valley.
Another weekend winner was Alex Brown who won the under-13 race at the national final of the Schools Cross Country Cup. Representing her school, Putney High, Brown clocked 10.38 at the race in Bolton to finish seven seconds ahead of her nearest rival.
