England Athletics earlier this week announced a team of 75 athletes who will represent their country in the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia in April of next year. Among those selected was Herne Hill Harriers’ top female middle distance international Katie Snowden in the women’s 1500m.
Having missed selection for the London 2017 IAAF World Championship by a very narrow margin, this is a timely boost for the 23 year old as she will now have the opportunity to compete against some of the best athletes in the world in her event at a major championship that is a multi sports games. Katie now heads off to Font Romeu in France for a British Athletics altitude training camp for distance runners as her hard winter training takes on a new level.
Before departing for the Pyrenees, Katie attended the Herne Hill Harriers AGM in Streatham on Wednesday 25th October, where she was awarded Honours Membership of the club in recognition not only of her senior international athlete status, but also her 11 years of representing the club to date, either in our teams or on the bigger stages and her example to other club members, especially the younger ones, in terms of her dedication, application and attitude towards her training and progression over time.
The above photos are of Katie with her HHH Honours Member certificate, first with the continuing HHH Club President Waldy Pauzers and then with club officers Geoff Jerwood and Steve Bosley.
Congratulations and best wishes from all at Herne Hill Harriers and good luck at the Games next year.
