Herne Hill Harriers

Triple gold at the South of England Cross Country Relays, Wormwood Scrubs, 17th October 2026

Our U18 Men continued their storming start to the season, with their third major title.  Producing an outright win in the combined U20/18 race, our U18s took no prisoners at the scrubs.  Caspian Holmes, running the fastest leg of the day, 8.32, 'won' the first leg, with James Clements Nash, 8.45, and Tommy Clerkin, 9.02, pulling away from a strong second place team, who had also secured silver medals at the SEAA Road Relays.

Once again, there was a real show of Club quality and depth across the age groups.  Our U14 Boys and U16 Girls' teams improved on the 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the SEAA Road Relays, with two victories here.  Like Caspian, Josh Lotter led home the first leg with the quickest time of the day, 6.44, with Rafe Horne, 7.12, and Tommy Howard, 6.56, maintaining the lead throughout.  Well done also to our B team who were 12th.

Our U16 Girls prevailed in a close fought race, led off by Skyla O'Brien, 7.07, then Poppy Mack, 7.25, and anchored by Marie Scriven's brilliant leg, 6.53, to take us from 3rd to 1st, with the second quickest individual leg overall.  Great running also from our B team who were 7th, and C team 19th.

There were some excellent performances in the other age groups, which included our U14 Girls finishing 4th and 10th, with the A team comprising Olivia Fisher, 7.45, Phoebe McNee, 7.52 and Freya Greenhalgh, 7.58, and we also had a C team in 21st.

Our U16 Boys finished 7th and comprised Ted Jones, 6.36, John Reynolds, 6.40, and Henry Kucerov, 6.51, and our B team were 18th.  Our U18 Women had an excellent day, finishing  4th and 10th.  The A team comprised Annabel Wainwright, 10.42, Clementine Cole, 11.14, and Zoe Dodgson, 11.00.

Our Senior Women finished in a strong 5th place, with a team of Darcie Hey, 10.10, Ella Newton, 11.15, and Cali Brannan, 10.26.

Our teams, Young Athletes and Seniors, now look to Mansfield for the last of the big relay championships of the Autumn.
