PADDOCK WOOD HALF MARATHON
Twenty five Herne Hill Harriers made the annual pilgrimage to the Paddock Woof Half Marathon. Perfect conditions and a fast course were the order of the day, and there were PBs everywhere.
The trip was facilitated brilliantly by our lead man Ashley Goncalves, doubling as chief bus conductor, who decimated his PB with a 69:04 clocking for 14th place. Ashley’s is an interesting story as he came through Tooting Run Club and has become a stalwart of HHH Club teams.
Not far behind was Ross Brown in 16th place, 69:27, who capped an incredible last year during which he has revised his road PBs, including a 2:27 marathon and 31:47 10K. The top six HHH finishers all clocked PBs, with George Withers dipping under 70 for the first time, 69:47, Alex Russell, 70:24, George Jackson, 71:25, and Lloyd Williams, 71:45.
Our lead woman, Leonie Biemolt, produced a brilliant PB for fourth woman overall, clocking 1:19:45, her first sub-80, and was followed by our second finisher and Club Captain, Julia Wedmore, 1:27:59, and HM debutant Maude Wolstenholme, 1:28:38. Special thanks to Julia for co-ordinating another excellent trip, and to all Club members who competed.
Elsewhere Sophie Tooley produced her best XC performance as a senior so far for 12th place at the Inter Counties in Nottingham. Running in the Surrey gold, Sophie was second scorer in their winning team, to back up her team gold at the National Cross Country Championships, as part of the HHH winning team there.
