Zanson Plummer wins National boys sprint title while distance runners excel in Birmingham

Young Herne Hill Harrier Zanson Plummer scored a great victory in capturing the national U15 boys championship 100m title at Bedford in 11.11 seconds, with Fawwaz Okunola placing a good 6th in the same race in 11.35. In the U17 men’s shot Louis Keen placed 5th with 14.86m, while Jermaine Graham was 6th in the U15 boys triple jump with a best on the day of 11.94m. Lascelles Hussey finished 13th in the U15 boys 3000m in 9.51.69 and Tshon Carnegie was eliminated in his U17 men’s 100m heat with 11.28.

At the BMC Nike Grand Prix meeting in Birmingham great 1500m PBs were recorded by both Jonny Henderson 3.55.10 (4th in D race) and Chris Busaileh 3.57.69 (1st in E race), together with a good 5000m run of 15.16.84 by Ben Paviour. Also in Birmingham, Denise Osei placed 4th in the McCain UK Challenge Final 100m with 12.07 and Matthew Walcott was 6th in the 110m hurdles in 14.77. In road running Cathy Ansell continued her excellent recent form winning the Victoria Park 10k as she continues her build up towards an October marathon.
