Yet another 17 year old Herne Hill Harrier has excelled on a big stage as Rebecca Zelic won a superb and unexpected bronze medal in the 100m hurdles at European Deaf Athletics Champs in Kayseri, Turkey. In her first international event, Rebecca beat rivals who were more experienced and came close to winning silver in claiming the first GB medal of the championship with a great PB of 15.31. This effort was followed later in the week by 5th place in the triple jump with 10.58m, a performance that, although close to her PB she was less happy with.
Rebecca said of her great Turkish experience “I was the youngest one, the others were over age 20. I am very happy with my new 100mH PB, but triple jump is my main event”. A big well done to Rebecca from HHH.
