Emer Casey Memorial

Thank you to everybody who attended the Emer Casey Memorial 10K in Brockwell Park on 24 October 2010, whether you were one of the participants or the army of volunteers who turned out to ensure the event ran like clockwork. The day has been a huge success and will raise funds for an extremely good cause indeed.

Chris Busaileh (33:12) held off Jamal Mohamed (33:25) and Abdi Madar Amare (33:26), both of Newham and Essex Beagles to win the men’s race for Herne Hill Harriers. Laurence Miles of Maidenhead AC finished a fine 4th to claim the veteran men’s prize while Chris teamed up with Paul Shiel and Daniel Chappell, making a welcome return to racing, to claim the spoils in the men’s team event ahead of Serpentine Running Club.

In the women’s race, Suzie Richards (38:52) led the home club to the women’s team prize, backed up by Helen Sharp (43:11) and Penel Fixter (48:23). Ola Balme (40:41) of Dulwich Runners finished as the leading female veteran and 2nd overall, with Emma Gould (42:28) of Serpentine claiming 3rd place ahead of Helen.

It also was pleasing to see runners from so many other clubs across South East London and Kent supporting this event and we hope that everybody who attended in whatever capacity that was enjoyed the day.
