Katie Snowden tackled the biggest race of her young life so far with a wonderfully confident and controlled win in the semi final of the World Youth Championship women’s 800m in Lille. In what looked a tough race on paper, Katie stayed with the pace throughout, allowing others to make their efforts and in most cases fade, before cruising past the athlete with the fastest PB of all of the entrants in the home straight to win comfortably in her second fastest time to date of 2.05.67. Although such appearances can sometimes be deceptive, Katie appeared to have saved plenty in the tank for a big effort in the final on Sunday. It is marvellous for Katie, her coach James, her family, her training group and of course for Herne Hill Harriers that she will be representing us in a big global championship final. We are all so proud and send out our very best wishes to France for the big race – go Katie!!
