Harriers’ U15 girl’s squad (Brown, Setyabule, Millard – l to r) who were third at the SEAA relay championships

Athletes from host club Herne Hill Harriers dominated the Streatham Common cross country as they filled the first four positions and seven of the top-eight.

Carl Ferri and Cathy Ansell were the male and female winners of the 6.5-mile race, clocking 40 minutes, 49 seconds and 41.43 respectively, with Ansell also finishing second overall in a field of 79 runners.

Jonny Muir (41.59) held off John Tayleur (42.35) for third place, with Jonathan Ratcliffe in sixth, Gary Ironmonger in seventh and Fabian Rosso in eighth completing Herne Hill’s domination of the top-eight positions.

Another weekend winner was Jorge Raso Gea, who won the Perseverance Wimbledon Park 10k, clocking 35.20 on a hilly course. Ratcliffe, racing for the second time in two days, finished fifth in 38.42. V60 Steve Knight also ran a season’s best over 10k, clocking 44.48 to finish in 24th place overall.

Elsewhere, Harriers U13 girl’s team of Eimear Griffin, Eloise O’Shaughnessy and Alex Brown  won their age category race at the SEAA Relay Championships at Wormwood Scrubs, with Brown’s time the fastest individual leg of the category.

There were also bronze medals for  Alice Setyabule, Kate Brown and Saskia Millard, who came third in the U15 girl’s race, only 40 metres behind the winning club following a fine last leg by Millard. The U13 boy’s squad and the U15 boy’s team were fourth and sixth respectively.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Ismail demonstrated his consistency again, finishing second at the Dulwich parkrun in 16.47, seven seconds ahead of teammate Mike Boyle in third. There was another tight Harriers’ dual at the Brockwell parkrun, with Robert Edwards (third in 18.11), finishing marginally ahead of Vic Maughn (fourth in 18.16) and Idiris Ali (fifth in 18.29).
