Hour & Young Road Running Champions Crowned

Wednesday evening saw plenty of action for Herne Hill Harriers, as we had two club championships.

At the track, the one hour race took place and was won by Rajdave Singh with 16,987 metres. He was followed by Paul Shiel at 16,268 metres and Mark White with 15,258 metres. Ben Halifax and Rupert Mainwaring warmed up for their April marathons by sharing pacing responsibilities, finishing at 14,164 metres.

Sarah Allen was the only woman running completing 13156 metres and guest runner Roy Wilson completed 12500 metres.

Prior to the hour race the club’s young athletes’ road running championships were well contested around Tooting Bec Common. In the U15 boys Merhawi Yemane was the winner ahead of Amin Jiisow and Idiris Ali. Paul Burgess won the U13 boys title from Max Ferrari and Andrzej Fanner. John Tayleur won the U17 mens club championship.

In the girls Natalija Woollny won the U13 girls title, with Bella Padt 2nd & Olivia Lamont third. Lucy Mordant won her first club championship in the U15 girls age group, with Izzy Broughton winning the silver medal and Clemmie Hilaire third.

In the Under 11 races Saskia Millard won the race from Izzy Lamport-Went & Bozena Fanner, with newcomer Paul Chalobah winning the boys race from Oscar Millard.
