Herne Hill Harriers’ senior men’s squad won the latest round of the Rosenheim League at Battersea Park on Wednesday night. The Tooting Bec-based club’s victory was crowned by U17 runner Ed Olsen who won the 800m in a personal best of 2:01.69. Nicholas Atwell also claimed a best time in winning the 400m race in 48.75.
Other event winners were Thomas Asbhy (javelin and discus), Taiwo Adereni (triple jump) and Ben Paviour (3000m). Harriers scored 58 points, three more than second-place Belgrave Harriers.
Another midweek racer was Saskia Millard, who ran 4:40.9 over 1500m at an independent schools track and field cup meeting. The time betters her personal best set four days earlier and is also superior to the club’s U15 girls’ record, although there is uncertainty over whether the performance will be eligible.
GB Junior International Katie Snowden also ran her first 800m of the outdoor season at a Watford BMC meeting in a race won by Jess Judd. Snowden ran a fast first lap of around 60 seconds and paid a little for her effort, but held on well for fourth place in a good field in 2:07.38 for a good opener to her summer season.
A three-man HHH men’s team were fourth at the Beckenham Relays on Wednesday, with V50 athlete Gary Ironmonger clocking the fastest individual split of the trio. The other team members were Fabien Rosso and Patrick Ewe, while a Harriers B team comprising Eric Dol, Ben Hallifax and Rosso, for a second time, finished 19th.
