HHH young athletes excel both indoors and out

Herne Hill Harriers young athletes enjoyed a busy and highly successful weekend. Fourteen travelled to Birmingham on Saturday for the Aviva National Sportshall finals where Michella Obijiaku and Kyanne Cornwall were in the winning Surrey Under 15 girls team. Both featured in the winning 4 x 2 lap relay and Michella won the shot put and was second in the all rounders competition. The Surrey bvoys team featuring five Herne hill Harriers was a narrow second beaten by only nine points with Jermaine Graham coming fourth in the all rounders competitions and winning silver in the standing triple jump. Ezekiel Onassanya won the 2 lap race and Anthony was third in the 4 lap race whilst both the relay and paarlauf teams came second.

On Sunday over 60 youngsters from the club took part in the Virgin Money Giving mini marathon and Paul Burgess won the boys 11-12 race for the second year running. Nine other Herne Hill Harriers had top twelve finishes running against the best runners in the 33 London boroughs over the final three miles of the mini marathon course. As well as Paul, Sam Cohen (6th) Sam Wattles (7th ) Shaun Houlden 11th & Tom Singholden 12th in the boys 11-12 race, Merhawi Yemane and Lascelles Hussey were 5th and 7th in the boys 13-14 race and Kate Brown was 9th in the girls 11-12 race & Francecsa Reid Lloyd 11th in the 15-17 girls race.
