Herne Hill Harriers have won recognition in the highly prestigous VIP Volunteer Awards organised by the English Sports Council.
Presented at the English Sports Council Forum at Carpenter Hall on 22nd October the Tooting Bec based Club were highly commended for excellence in the management and development of volunteers in sport. Herne Hill Harriers beat clubs and organisations throughout the South East from all sports who had applied for the VIP Volunteer Awards.
In announcing the award Andy Sutch, Regional Director for the English Sports Council London Region, praised their superb application and their development programe which encourages volunteers to play a role within the club, help with events and then improve their skills such as taking coaching courses. The Club which is run entirely by unpaid volunteers has enjoyed a highly successful year with teams winning promotion in the Southern Womens League & McDonalds boys and girls Leagues.
