Women Vets T&F Report 2016

With three out of four match wins this season (compared to two last year) and 3 match points ahead of the competition, HHH Women Vets won the Mid-London division of the SCVAC league for a second year running – and jumping, and throwing!

Despite injury and absence we stuck to the strategy of covering all 109 events, and with between 9-11 athletes for each match it was through sheer talent, effort and teamwork that maximum points were accumulated.

The season was peppered with personal best performances:

Rebecca Barrow: 200m; Mandy Brown: 100m, Hammer, Discus; Kate Crawford: 1500m, 3000m, Long Jump; Penelope Cummings: 10000W; Patrizia Gnoato: 400m, High Jump, Triple Jump, Hammer; Jane Krammer: 800m, 1500m; Barbara Macanas: 2000W; Mairi Maclean: 100m, 200m, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump; Kathleen Moeller: Long Jump, Discus; Sharon St Luce: Javelin, Triple Jump, Hammer; Claire Steward: 400m, 1500m; Nikki Sturzaker: 400m; Hilary Sutcliffe: 100m, 200m; Gillian Wheeldon: 400m, 800m; Natalie Zara: 400m, 800m, 1500m, 2000W

Our Women Vets in the Top 10 UK rankings this season:

Penelope Cummings W35/40: 1st in 2000W, 3000W, 5000W, 10000W

Sharon St Luce W55: Javelin 1st, Shot Put 3rd, Triple Jump 10th, Discus 10th

Barbara Macanas W60: Throws Pentathlon 2nd, Weight Throw 4th, Discus 5th, Hammer 5th, Shot Put 6th, Javelin 9th

Natalie Zara W35: 2000W 6th

Patrizia Gnoato W45: High Jump 9th

We have a depth of talent but as was shown in the SCVAC Final where we needed to cover more events between us and were only placed fifth out of seven teams, we need to increase our numbers.

If any ladies out there 35 years+ are interested in joining us, please get in touch.
