At the London Schools Cross Country Championship yesterday (Wed 3rd Feb) there were some top performances from athletes from Herne Hill Harriers.
There was only one HHH race winner, Jaden Kennedy in the Junior Boys B race. Many congratulations to him.
HHH athletes in top 4 (and therefore automatically selected for London Schools team for the English Schools Cross Country Champs at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, Sat 5th March):
Junior Girls Lulu King 4th fantastic achievement as its her first year in the age-group
Intermediate Girls Katie Balme 2nd she was 3rd overall in the race (Inter Girls and Seniors race together), another great achievement for an athlete who has another year in this age-group
Ella Newton 3rd 4th overall in the race, claiming her first London Schools medal
Senior Girls Kate Brown 2nd 6th overall in the race. I think this may be Kate’s first individual London Schools medal, very well deserved.
Intermediate Boys Moh Mohamud 3rd, again a great achievement as this is his first year in the age-group and only beaten by two very good year 11’s.
HHH athletes in positions 5-15 and therefore received a letter saying they are being considered for the London team:
Junior Girls Lily Newton 5th
Rosie Hammond 6th, like Lulu its her first year in age-group
Jessica Tabraham 11th, also first year in age-group
Intermediate Girls Tatiana Cooke 5th, 7th overall in the race
Zoe Tompkins 8th, 10th overall in the race – but ran with a stitch all the way round
Kayah Wilks 14th, 16th overall in the race (and, I think, 4th year 10 in the race so a very good performance)
Junior Boys Mohamed Ali 5th
Jacob Alley 12th, again a great achievement as this is his first year in the age-group.
Intermediate Boys Laurie Pope 5th
Isaac Brown 6th
Paul Chalobah 11th
Senior Boys Billy Black 6th
