On Tuesday this week we have what I am calling the Willis-Leer workout. Some of you will have seen video on Facebook a few weeks ago featuring Nick Willis and Will Leer doing a training session that was quite similar in structure to what we do. It consisted of 4 miles at tempo pace (wow!), followed by 6 x 600m, then 4 x 200m. Some of you asked if we could do it, so inspired by their example I have modified their session, shortening the tempo run considerably but retaining the rest of the session. I have stuck to our approach of keeping the recoveries short which has served us well this winter. In the spring and summer the recoveries will get longer as the intensity increases.”
