Herne Hill Harriers are very sad to report the passing of Ron Clark, aged 92.
Ron represented Great Britain in the marathon at the Melbourne Olympic Games in 1956.
Born in the same road as the club was formed – Milkwood Road, Herne Hill, Ron was a Past President (1969-70) and an Honours Member of Herne Hill Harriers.
Pictured in the above photo after his great win in the 1956 Polytechnic Marathon – a club record of 2:20:15.8 that would earn him selection for the Great Britain 1956 Olympic team, HHH cross country captain and road running secretary Ron Clark stands beside the magnificent ‘Sporting Life’ trophy. Ron’s club record would survive for nearly 27 years until beaten by Rob Payne in 1983,

He sadly died on 27th October 2022 after suffering with dementia for the past few years.
His funeral will be on 23rd November at 1.45pm at Bluebell Cemetery, Old London Road, Halstead, Kent TN14 7AE
