Three HHH juniors made up the bulk of the Putney High School team which represented England in the ISF World Schools Cross Country in Budapest on 23rd April.
Alex Brown, Tatiana Cooke and Maddie Shaw helped their English team to an equal joint 10th placing alongside Spain. Australia, Morocco and Turkey took the podium places and 25 countries competed.
The England team were one of the youngest teams in the age group, which unusually spanned three school years. Alex and two other teammates were in the youngest year, with Tatiana and Maddie still a year younger than many of the other countries’ competitors.
Individual placings and times for the HHH trio over the flat and fast 3.6km course were – Alex 7th (11.23), Tatiana 55th (12.48) and Maddie 84th (13.38).
The festivities spanned a whole 5 days – including friendship relays with mixed country teams and a mortifying “national performance” evening in which the England team had to enact “St George and the Dragon” – in their track suits and with only a tiara and a plastic sword!
