Herne Hill Harriers Middle Distance athletes enjoyed another weekend of Open meetings before the real business of the 2015 Track season starts. They posted some good times in in the glorious sunshine of the Lee Valley Outdoor Open on Saturday and although sunny it was rather swirling windy conditions on Sunday at the Hercules Wimbledon.

On Saturday saw Turkay Korkmaz (2:07.83) finish second in the U15B 800m in a time of 2:07.83 and Jemima Hayward Bhikha (2:49.55) 4th in her heat.

On Sunday over in Wimbledon Park. Turkay (4:21.75 ) won Gold in the U15B 1500m with silver going to team mate Mohammed Mohamud(4:22.66). Similarly in the U15G 1500m, Alex Brown (4:45.05) won gold from team mate Lucy Olsen, and in the U13G 1500m Lulu King (5:05.59) won gold with silver going to  Maisie Collis (5:09.71) and possibly just leapfrogging Maisie to Number 1 position in the National rankings. U13B Jaden Kennedy (4:46.58) won gold in the U13B with a sensible run. In the 800m U13G Amy Miller (2:32.74), U13B Jacob Alley (2:35.16) and U17W Maddie Shaw (2:21.13) all won gold.

Other Silver Medallists were in the 1500m, U17M  Lewis Laylee(U17M) in 4:25.11, U17W Ella Newton (4:58.68). In the U11Boys 1000m Jacob Harrison won silver with Poppy Craig McFeely won Gold in the U11G 600m.

Bronze Medallists were U13B Cameron Welsh (2:36.79) in the 800m and Christo Chilton (3:21.33) in the U11B 1000m.

There were several other great performances from the rest of the squad. I have included as many as I can remember and if I miss anyone out my apologies. The Full results should be up or maybe already up on the Power of Ten or Hercules Wimbledon’s website.
