Team M50-59 Silver were just rewards for Gary Ironmonger, Mike Boyle and Tom Conlon, as Mike Boyle also took individual 1st for M55 and Tom Conlon got 3rd place for the same age category, although M50 Gary Ironmonger, who made up the team, was fastest of the three.
Congratulations, too, for John Garber, who, 2 days after his 75th birthday, won gold coming first in his new M75 age group category!
Joffah Radcliffe, was overall our fastest man but suffered another unlucky 4th place in his M45 age group to miss out on a medal. We suffered an incomplete M40-49 team despite a rock solid Jon Key in 10th M40 due to the fact our very own ‘Flying Scot’ Dave ‘Dundee’ Adam was called up to represent the RAF so had to withdraw from this event. Frustratingly, Trevor Chilton entered on the day, coming 16th M45, but on-day entry does not allow him to score to complete this HHH team. Steve Knight ably competed at M65 as did Andy Millbank at M50. Further missing bodies due to injuries, illness (and RAF selection) limited our representation and team chances elsewhere but overall we had a respectable showing with an appropriate early season medal haul achieved.
HHH Women Vets ably demonstrated their higher profile and numbers at the same event. HHH recorded a W45 team for the first time with a 4th team place from Mary, Rebecca, Cindy, Mandy, Sarah, Sonia whilst our W35 team of Abby, Sam and Penel were also a creditable 4th.
Well done HHH Vets, now for us all to make an impression at the Southern Counties Championships in December !
