Herne Hill Harrier’s men’s star multi event exponent Thomas Ashby got his 2015 decathlon season off to a promising start in weather that was cold, windy and at times wet as he scored 6,633 points. Competing as a guest at the Somerset Schools Combined Events meeting at Street, Tom’s performance over 10 events in 2 days were as follows:
100m 11.29, Long Jump 6.94m, Shot 13.02m, High Jump 1.87m, 400m 56.62, 110m hurdles 15.52, Discus 44.22m, Pole Vault 3.40m, Javelin 42.74m and 1500m 4.41.85.
In more favourable conditions we shall all hope that Tom will this year make a good improvement to his own HHH club record decathlon points score of 7,107.
