Ken started his running career on 3rd July 1946 by winning and breaking the mile record at the inter schools sports day. He went on to Join the Herne Hill Harriers in 1947 and remained a member throughout his life some 72 years. Ken remained committed to running which was integral throughout his life. A mid distance runner, His best mile time was 4.34. He was regularly in the top 3 of many races both track and cross country. Ken trained every Tuesday and Thursday in and around Streatham Common and often had several locals of all ages join him. He was an inspiration to many people and many he would train to better themselves. Ken was well respected and made several long lasting friendships within the club. Ken was very loyal to Herne Hill Harriers and was always proud to wear the Red and Black Shirt. He is truly missed.
