Marathon men make their mark

Herne Hill’s Jeff Cunningham recorded a fine 2.36.53 for 16th place in the Hanover Marathon in Germany at the weekend, while Jonathan Ratcliffe placed 47th overall and 3rd M45 in the Greater Manchester Marathon in 2.43.59. Also in Manchester Jack Brotchie clocked a good PB of 2.50.16 despite a less than ideal final day or two and Eriç Dol ran a 3.00.27 PB to give HHH a 3 man team time of well under 9 hours.

Racing on the track at Tooting in the HHH Open Meeting, HHH distance men filled 6 of the first 7 positions in the 3000m led by Sean Fitzpatrick tuning up for next week’s Boston Marathon winning in 9.21.1, Simon Messenger 9.45.3, Matt Munro 10.03.2 and Gary Ironmonger 10.05.6. These were closely followed by under 20 Abel Tadesse 10.06.5 and Alex Marks with a 10.08.8 PB. Among the female competitors under 17 Lucy Olsen ran 10.54.1 and Natasha Lodge took nearly a minute off of her PB to clock 11.12.8.

Eric Sapac was only narrowly beaten in the 600m, his 1.23.6 being a very encouraging early season opener, while in the 1500m John Tayleur was 2nd in 4.11.3 with Eric (4.23.8) running his second race of the afternoon. Gary also ran again in the 200m and was happier with his 28.1 than with his 3000m.
