Herne hill Harriers youngsters were in action at Guildford in the Bruce Judd Memorial Cross country relays for U13-17 athletes & returned with four teams winning silver medals & a bronze team medals from the six races.
Missing some key regulars through half term we had some exciting races especially the U17 mens race where two red & black teams challenged South London Harriers throughout the race, going into the final half mile Paul Burgess was tracking the South london athlete but just got pipped in the dash to the line to miss out on gold by an agonizing metre.
In the U13 girls Guildford turned the tables on our team winning by five seconds after we beat them in the Southern X country relays the week before & in the U13 boys we finished second to a good Aldershot team who had medaled in earlier national relays.
Our other silver medalists were the U17 women who chased Guildford home. We had three gold medalists for fastest legs on the day : Clarissa Nicholls in U13 girls, Oscar Millard in U13 boys & Paul Burgess in U17 men.
